And nobody better treat'er like a doormat, either. Unless, of course, we're talking about a fabulous doormat, in which case perhaps it's okay.
I guess yesterday's post about tree skirts got me thinking about floors...so today we're on to doormats. And while I do think that Come In/Go Away mat from Suck UK is clever, I'm seeing it boringly everywhere - and nowhere on sale yet - and so I feel obligated to provide some deal-y alternatives...
This is my doormat. I love it. It's so great looking, and it's Chilewich, so it's durable as all get-out. And I find that it's tremendously effective from a function perspective. Oh, and the saffron color (to the right
here) works perfectly with the color of the steel beams in the front of my house, conveniently. I've seen them from $45 - $60 (sadly I think I paid something around the latter for mine), but Unica Home has the saffron on sale right now for 25% off their regular price of $48. Good deal at $36, but there are only 8 left - act fast!
This one is on sale right now at Chiasso.com. Called the Comet, it's a great combination of color and design. And of made of coir, which of course will keep those floors nice and clean...regularly $38, now $18.
One final option - just sort of the weirdest doormat I've seen. (Not to say the tackiest, b/c of course there is a long, long list of contenders for that title). I found this at Target, and sort of just can't believe it's a doormat. It's worth visiting the listing on Target.com just to read the one review for it that's there. It's hilarious. That said, there's something sort of arty about this that I am strangely drawn to. I guess it's my love-hate thing with birds...anyhow, not the greatest deal in the world at $34.99, but somehow notable regardless.
According to a blessing/proverb/poetic bit I found online:
Make the threshold smooth enough to be no Stumbling block to children, Rugged enough to turn back evil.
Not sure if a blog has ever before referenced Dirty Dancing and some sort of ethnic/religious blessing. Regardless, hope one of these doormats might do the trick for you.
